Hey have u made a page on long tailed grass lizards?
A: No. For a long time they got very expensive and/or unavailable. I may do one now since their price dropped. In the meantime, keep yours like an anole. LA

I need to know some info on Pirahnas, I have one and he was good with the shirmp, and now he won't touch it, so I bought him feeder fish and he won't eat them, can you tell me what else I could feed him??? It has been almost 4 days that he has not eaten anything can you contact me as soon as possible.... Thank You A: You don't say what size he is. Check for any signs of disease. Then give him a 25% water change. Clean the crud out of his gravel in the process. Then make sure his filter and heater are working. Then give him one feeder fish to eat. LA

Hi, 2 weeks ago I was on a fishing trip to New Brunswick and I was walking along the St. john river when I saw, what I that was a tadpole swimming towards me, when I noticed it had whiskers, it was a very young channel cat. I had forgotten my net so I took my shoes off and tried to scoop it up after a while of chasing the little bugger around for a while I managed to catch it. After ten minutes or so I caught 6, we were in New Brunswick for 3 days, I kept them in a three gallon bucket and fed them little bits of worm. Now we’re back in Prince Edward Island, I have them in a twenty gallon tank with three goldfish and a crayfish. That’s enough of there story, I have a couple questions about the now five catfish (one choked and died eating a piece of worm that was too big), right now the biggest ones are about one inch long but I know they get much bigger. I was wondering how you would set up a pond for them, especially here in P.E.I where any still water freezes solid in the winter. Also I was wondering what one of my catfish is doing, it goes into the corner of the tank puts its head up and starts breathing very rapidly. Thank You
P.S. there are no Channel catfish on P.E.I so
letting them go is not an option when they get bigger.
A: You were lucky you didn't step on one while
catching them. You need no special requirements for channel
cats (or bullheads) in your pond -- just water. Channel cats
will eat your goldfish and eventually your crayfish if your
cratyfish don't eat them first (at night). LA

Thanks, I double checked and they look more like Bullheads but they aren’t suppose to live in the St. John river where I caught them. If they are bullheads can you keep them in a pond? A: Bullheads have a rounded tail. Channel Cats have a forked tail. Both will do fine in a pond. LA
A: You have an old tank. They now make them out of tempered glass which "blows up" into little pieces instead of cracking. The new ones are nearly impossible to repair because you can't remove the frame. Give me a better description of the crack or send me a picture. Perhaps I can tell you how to repair your tank. I don't sell the repair glass but the hardware store across the street does. LA
A: Rather than take this tank apart and replace the
front glass, I'd Silastic a glass patch on that area to re-inforce
it and control the crack. Then make the back the new front.
The things on the bottom were an undergravel filter. The
easiest way to clean the tank is with a product called Lime-Off
which I have not seen for a while; second choice is vinegar.
That white stuff is dried water (lime) which usually dissolves again
once you refill the tank. Handle the tank as little as
possible to reduce the threat of a growing crack. LA

Hi, Larry. I've been in your store from time to time for many years. I have purchased cichlids, tropical fish, plecos and unusual assortments from your shop. At one time we had a discussion that you have purchased cichlids from customers to re-sell at your shop, and you told me to email you if I was ever looking to sell mine. I currently have a 180 gallon fish tank that I am putting up for sale. There are two large African cichlids and two leporinus fish that must be re-homed before the tank can be sold. The two cichlids are African Tanganyika Cichlids about 6-7 inches in length. Very healthy and active fish. Please let me know if you are in any way interested in these fish. I have attached images of them both. Thank you for you time. The tank will also be up for sale. If you know of someone looking for a large aquarium, please pass along my information to them.

ok so before i got my male gypsy king tiger pleco my female sailfin pleco would eat dead fish carcasses but after i got my male gypsy king tiger pleco and he starting eating dead fish that was when my female pleco finallly started eating dead fish.is there a reason for this?is it her interest in him? A: I didn't understand your question. Please
re-phrase it. LA

i mean before i got my male gypsy king tiger pleco i had a female sail fin pleco that would eat dead fishes.but when my male pleco starting eat the carcasses my female pleco finally starting eat dead fishies.did my female have interested in his actions that she started to eat fishies? or whAT A: You are still sending two copies of your emails. And you repeated the same question with different words. Let me just say that what one pleco eats will not teach another pleco to eat it -- except wood. LA
A: Angel eggs have a sticky part on their heads that secures them to the site where the female lays them (or moves them to later). The tiny white worms are probably planaria that normally populate every aquarium as part of the clean up crew. I don't think you can prevent them. You can reduce them by moving the eggs to another container full of aged water. Add an airstone to help aerate the eggs. The methylene blue helps control bacteria and aids in oxygen uptake. LA
A: They probably eat anything they run across. The Pilates class I went to was mostly core exercises. While at the gym today, I saw a massive tree that was toppled in Virginia Beach. It's not over till it's over. LA
A: If you added malachite green to your fry it will likely kill them. The label says do not use on young fish. LA

I know you use some fans pictures, so here is one of my bistlenosed pleco. He is a dwarf yellow spotted, the best I can tell. He is showing off the bristles in this pic. Hope you enjoy! A: Nice pic. Thanks. LA

Hi Larry, I worked on another one of Judy's pictures. She needs to adjust her white balance on her camera. Anyway, I came up with the result below so you can help her ID her fish. I based the colors on how I thought the rocks should look. The fish appears to have yellow or gold color in it. ![]() A: I'd expect to see some green and blue iridocytes in the body and maybe a red and white trim on the dorsal fin. Probably one of the Aequidens. LA
