Prologue: Yellow rabbit snails
enjoy a number of pseudonyms: yellow antennae snails, Sulawesi snails,
yellow bunny rabbit snails, and others depending upon what region they're
sold in. I just encountered these guys last year, so I can't consider
myself an expert, maybe three weeks from now? They have not bred for
me. The first ones I acquired died early. I'll try to help
others from making the same mistakes I did.
LA
Yellow antenna snail.
LA
Ditto. Lots of variation in the "almost yellow" coloration.
Yellow Rabbit Snails. I'm not
sure I can recommend the yellow rabbit snails. They don't move
around much -- at least while I'm looking. In that respect they
resemble a rock. They have a low survivability score. My first
couple batches croaked within the first two weeks. And
they're not very yellow to boot. Besides that, they cost too much
(IMnonHO) -- three to four times the price of a mystery snail. But I
had to have them because I'd never seen them before..
LA
More yellow rabbit snails. Not a very active snail.
LA
Most yellow rabbit snails do not live very long. (Maybe that's just
mine.)
LA
I caught these yellow rabbit snails moving. Good operculum shots.

LA
Here's a couple rabbit snail that actually moved. Kind of ugly in the face.
Pellet foods coax them to move.

LA
Face not so ugly from this vantage
point. Good glass climbers. One bottom left dining at the surface.
LA
Yellow rabbit snail tearing into an anacharis growth tip. First one I've ever seen eat
plants (out of a couple dozen).
LA
Same yellow rabbit snail three days later. Not really much of an algae
eater. More of a scavenger.

Darker yellow rabbit snails.
Another Color Variant. Chocolate
bunny ears are a color variant that looks very different externally.
They're pretty much the same internally. Refer to
Chocolate Bunny Ear
Snails for more
details.
LA
Chocolate bunny ear snails. Cool name. Poor survivability.
Also expensive.
LA
Chocolate bunny ear snails. Similar to the yellow antennas -- just
a different color. Not very active.
LA
More chocolates, April 1, 2011. Looks like two "empties."
No opercula.
LA
Loose operculum.
LA
Two replacement empties, April 8, 2011.
