Prologue: Kathy originally
asked a question about angelfish eggs. We corresponded a bit and she
sent some nice pictures I thought you'd enjoy. I know I did. All
these pictures are the property of Kathy Potts. She owns the
copyrights to them. She gave me permission to use them.

Mr. Larry, I took this photo about an
hour ago. The Electric Blue Jack Dempseys, like the Angelfish, are one
of my favorite fish. We bought 6 of them last May (2009). They were
one inchers. Today (May 31, 2010) this guy/doll is about 7 1/2". The
thermometer below the EBJD is 5" (for size reference). They are truly
beautiful fish!!!. The camera really doesn't do them justice. The flash
for some reason brings out a gold color in them. If you have enough
light, the right aperture, and ISO etc., you can get a truer
appreciation of their VIVID BLUE color. I have heard that they can be
quite aggressive, but ours have a more timid temperament. On several
occasions, while I am cleaning their aquarium, they have even let me pet
them. Not as pettable as an Oscar probably, but very friendly fish!
None of them have spawned. I don't know if we have all girls or all
boys, or maybe the conditions just aren't right. I will send you a few
pics that I have taken of them over the past year.

A: You apparently need to cross them back to regular Jack
Dempseys to obtain viable fry. Male EBJD X female regular Jack
Dempseys seems most practical. I can't take a picture of the EBJDs'
true colors either. LA

Last Words: Too bad you can't see the
full-size versions of the pics. As you may have figured out by now,
angelfish are definitely one of my favorite fishes. LA
