Prologue: As tempus fugits,
we continue to receive new oscars. Maybe it's the pre-Christmas
spirit? Who knows? They're not very good stocking stuffers. Anyway, they're here. LA, December
15, 2009.
LA
12-inch red tiger oscar. Cooperative subject. Average otherwise.
LA
Another 12 incher. Mucho better color. Glass could be cleaner.
LA
12-inch red or super red albino. Lots of dings. Weird body bend.
LA
10-inch red tiger. Poor color. Probably fed lots of minnows.
The next batch of oscars all came in from the same person. He's
switching to saltwater. All the oscars will look the same size in the
pics, because they're cropped -- usually well, but not always. They
are all in separate tanks and all newly arrived.
LA
6-inch tiger oscar. Lots of dings. They'll heal. His water
got changed (90%)30 minutes later.
LA
6-inch albino tiger. Could be a "snow" because there's a bit of
melanin mixed in.
LA
8-inch albino tiger. Kind of blah.
LA
7-inch red. Good color. Some fresh nicks.
LA
4-inch tiger oscar. Still immature colors. Really good fins.
LA
6-inch tiger. Won't pose. Uncooperative but lots of color.
LA
6-inch tiger with even more color.
LA
6-inch red. These probably should be called "bronze" these days.
Lots of nicks.
We photographed the last batch a day after they came in. Oscars
often lie on their sides their first day in a new tank. We might go
back and re-shoot some of them. Or not.
LA
8-inch tiger. Unco-operative poser.
LA
5-inch tiger. Not much color yet. A few scratches.
December's finally over so that's the last oscar of the month. LA
