January 15, 2009. Just when you thought there were no more
new oscars possible, it's time to show some of our newer ones and some of our
trade-ins. We've mentioned it before, but we do like
oscars. LA
LA
Striking 10-inch super red (with missing scales) that came in with ...
LA
... a 10-inch red tiger -- in the same 5-gallon bucket with a 12-inch
pleco and a 6-inch dempsey.
LA
6-inch red that came in while I was away. Something scraped him
pretty good also.
LA
Other side. Nice color. Bad srates.
LA
Might have come in with this similar slightly scuffed 6-inch red.
LA
11-inch red tiger -- too big to fit in the frame.
LA
Tried for another shot, but he got a bit shy.
LA
10-inch red oscar -- likes to pose.
LA
10-inch red tiger that came in a cat litter bucket with ...
LA
... this 10-inch albino tiger. We'll get his water cleaned and take
another picture.
LA
He looks happier in clean water.
LA
January 17, 2009. Right here we hit 21 adult oscars on
board and decided enough was way too much. So, we eSpecialed
(January
eSpecials)
them at $20. Anyone wanting to try their hand at breeding oscars
can have your choice for a very reasonble $20. We sold some the
first day, but, they kept coming in. We may need to change our
name to Oscarland. LA
February 15, 2009. Ta Da.
We sold them all 21 plus the others that came in during the sale period
(except the long fin oscars which were not at reduced prices). All
the oscars you see (until the end of this page) now reside in the tanks of
other people. LA
LA
Here's a 10-inch tiger with a few scratches ans a serious tear,
Good thing oscars heal fast.
LA
His other side looks perfectly fine. Nice looking tiger.
LA
Another 10-inch tiger -- less intense colors.
LA
Nearly 12-inch super red out of the bucket about 10 minutes. Looks
a little sullen.
January 21, 2009. Whew, the month's two-thirds over.
We've reduced our stock a bit in the last few days, but there's still
plenty to pick from. LA
PS The ones we moved out gave us some room for big Jaguars.
You can see the new Jaguars @
Misc Cichkids XV.
LA
7-inch long-fin oscar with tail -- fresh out of the bucket.
Long-Fin Oscars: This guy was
brought to us in a five-gallon bucket with an equal-sized L/F oscar and a
12-inch plecostomus. He has several minor "transport wounds" which
should heal with no problems. We added some NovAqua to his water to
help heal those scratches. As for color, he's darker than a normal or
wild oscar. His near total lack of red could be the result of a minnow
diet?
LA
Here's his "bucket mate." No scratches. Wild color.
More L/F Comments: Long-fin
oscars tend to tear up one anothers' fins. They're best kept
separately as individual specimens. They come in a variety of colors.
These particular specimens appear to be the natural oscar colors.
March 3. Hard to believe that
we only have four large oscars. No doubt more will come in as time and
a half goes by.
LA
Very cooperative 10-inch tiger oscar
LA
Same guy. Likes to pose.
LA
Larger red oscar that wants nothing to do with a camera.
