Oscars exist out there in
unimaginable numbers. All the oscars below were photographed 1.29.04. None appear in any of the prior files.
In case you did not know,
we like oscars -- in spite of the fact that we photographed them in police
line up style. We like them for their fins, for their color, for
their personalities. Okay guys, line up and toe the line. (By
the way, we still cannot sex oscars.) LA.
LA
Pic
Normal colored original oscar.
LA
Side view. "Ocellatus" on bent tail. Note the original
rich olive color. No "stars."

How do you correct "red-eye" in a fish with red eyes? No
"ocellatus" on albinos or reds.
LA
Pic
LA
Pic
"Ocellatus" evident on normals and tigers. Lots of scratches on
this new guy.
LA
Pic
No melanin to hide his red color.
LA
Pic
All oscars look good. Super reds look super good. Try to ignore the
algae on the glass.
LA
Pic
Is that eye out of line?
LA
Pic
Regular red oscar. Lots of wounds. Very common when oscars get
moved.
LA
Pic
Nice red oscar.
LA
Pic
Lots of red and lots of scratches.
LA
Pic
Pugnacious guy. Wanted to argue rather than pose.
LA
Pic
Can't help but like an oscar like this. Snow oscar with melanin showing
the "ocellatus."
LA
Pic
LA
Pic
Red snow oscar. Nice color. Nice fins. Some
scratches. They heal fast in clean water.
LA
Pic
Another non-truster."
LA
Pic
Great looking red tiger. His fins make a perfect oval.
LA
Pic
LA
Pic
Scratched red. Still new. Non-trusting. He'll get better color
after three weeks on goldfish.
LA
Pic
LA
Pic
His scratches will heal once we
get rid of the crud in the water. Oscars roil their water.
LA
Pic
Hole-in-head disease.
LA
Pic
Hexamita obviously poses no threat to oscars. Good looking specimen.
Nice fins.
LA
Pic
Haughty.
LA
Pic
Not much red on this snow red tiger. Could be a diet factor. Not
sure. Semi-ocellatus. This guy bailed the next morning. He is
no longer with us.
LA
Pic
LA
Pic
Snow oscar. More likely a healed bite -- not genetic. Breeder but
not a show fish.
The
guys below were shot 2.18.04.

LA

Foot- long tiger snow oscar.
LA

LA
Pic
Nice 11-inch red. Both these guys came in yesterday. The guys below
came in today.
LA
Pic
Snow oscar in a bucket.
LA
Pic
Looks pretty good even in a bucket. (Oscars lie on their sides when
moved.)
LA
Pic
Same guy as above in a tank.
LA
Pic
He's only been in here 20 minutes. He'll look better as he
acclimates.
LA
Pic
My kind of oscar -- in your face.
LA
Pic
He already needs a water change. He'll look better in a week or so.
The
guys below were shot 4.25.04.
LA
Pic
Not much color on this oscar. He needs a change of diet. Looks like
a "normal."
LA
Pic
Nice foot-long snow oscar. Good fin configuration.
LA
Pic
Foot-long veil-tail oscar -- sort of a "bi-color."
LA
Pic
Salmon-colored red oscar about 10-inches long. A few minor
"nicks." Nice color.
LA
Pic
Another 10-inch oscar in messy water. Ragged fins.
LA
Pic
Here's an albino suffering from filthy water 8.01.04. He died two weeks
later.
The
following pics were shot 8.29.04.
LA
Pic
Two-toned, veil-tail, eight-inch albino oscar. One of my new favorites.
LA
Pic
Just put this 10-incher in this tank five minutes ago. Typical oscar
behavior.
LA
Pic
One day and one feeder goldfish later, he looks much better.
LA
Pic
Snow oscar. Very visible lateral lines. Nine inches long and
still growing. Great fins.
LA
Pic
This facial close-up shows the callous on his bottom lip.
LA
Pic
Six-inch tiger. Non-cooperative. Will not pose.
LA
Pic
Nice 10-inch, scratched red oscar. Good fins.
LA
Pic
Four-inch normal that lost to two dempseys.
LA
Pic
Nine-inch normal.
More
oscars photographed on 9.2.04.
LA
Pic
10 incher on his second day. He's trying to hide behind the filter.
LA
Pic
His twin came in yesterday also. Note the sad tail.
