LA
Camo toad looking much like any other toad wearing a camouflage suit.
LA
"Camo" outfit more obvious here. His real name is "European
toad."
LA
"Camo" more obvious on the larger female on left.
LA
Sold to us as an Egyptian toad. How ya gonna know? Dorsal
view.
LA
Ventral view as we say in the lab.
LA
Hops (not hoteps) like a toad.
LA
"Smiles" like a toad.
LA
Mixing toads with anoles may not be the best idea.
LA
The anole was as big as him -- way bigger when you include the tail.
LA
1.75-inch Southern toads. They live in "fox holes" until
the crickets come to visit.
LA
He very reluctantly poses for his formal portrait. He forgot to comb
his "hair."
LA
Considering "making a break" for the wall.
LA
Formal I.D. shot after "booking."
LA
2-inch Java toad. Kinda shy. Eats and "squirts" like
any other toad.
LA
Shy maybe but still trying to "make a break" for it.
LA
Still, he's calm enough for another portrait. We're starting to
think most toads look alike.
LA
Egyptian toad. Awfully similar.
LA
Prefers not to sit still for a portrait.
LA
Likes to leap to the lip of his container.
LA
They really blended into their substrate.
LA
Woodhouse toad -- new to us.
Joe Carrieri, Long Island, NY, August 10, 2007
On your Misc Toad page you have what you listed as a woodhouse toad.
That's just another name for a Fowlers toad. They're a little more
aquatic than most other toads. They're one of only 2 toad species where
I live here on Long Island.
A: Duly noted. LA
LA
Same guy. Great jumper for a toad.
LA
Genuine American toad. We have his birth certificate.
LA
USA. USA. USA.
LA
Sold to us as Egyptian toad. Looks like the camo or European toad.
LA
Same batch, little lighter shade.
LA
Not wanting to stay in his cage, he got out later the same day.
LA
Another camo toad.
LA
Same guy replenishing his squirt glands. That's not dandruff on his
head.
LA
Small (4-inch) cane toad. Not as common as they used to be a couple
decades ago.
LA
Fairly plain underbelly
LA
Grows to 4 pounds. Opportunistic feeder -- even eats dog food.
LA
We repeat -- opportunistic feeder.
LA
Same guy hunkered down in the gravel.
LA
Another marine/cane toad. Perky.
LA
Not always perky.
LA
Even likes to sulk occasionally.
LA
Brace of cane toads.
LA
Glamour shot of young cane toad.
