Prologue: Saturday was a
pleasant day. We attended the EXPO 11 am to 2:30 pm. We consider
it time well spent (and some cash well spent). Bigger and better than
last year. Rather than going in alphabetical order (or any other
order) we just wandered hither and thither as we bumped into points (or
animals) of interest. We'll show various items we considered
interesting in the order we stumbled upon them.

LA
Pets had to sign in to get in. People just needed cash.
LA
People and pets were standing in line to get into the EXPO.
LA
Centerfold of this issue. The Bulldog Club was well represented.
LA
Here's one of the announcers before and after he spotted the camera.
LA
One of the numerous vendors at the show. Beau coup pet related items
were available.
LA
One of the shows (demonstrations) featured sled dogs.
LA
They came in different colors.
LA
We learned how to harness and control them. They mush 6 to 8 miles per
hour...
LA
... much faster than we can motivate teenagers to mush.
LA
Another of the numerous vendors. Lots of tasty snacks and treats.
LA
Some very nice looking dogs signed in.
LA
Twice as nice looking.
LA
And then we found the Iowa Herpetological Society showing some axolotls
(amphibians).
LA
Sign said three-toed box turtle, but it looked like a male ornate to me.
LA
And a probable female here.
LA
Caramel corn snake (Iowa native).
LA
Great plains garter snake, another Iowa native.
LA
Grey tree frog, an Iowa native.
LA
Colorado River toad. Largest toad in the U.S. Not an Iowa
native.
LA
The Sheriff's Department was represented by one of their mounts.
LA
Looks full size here but he's just a little rascal.
LA
This little mini-horse was seven years old.
LA
The same folks brought this little donkey ($5 per ride).
LA
Snoopy (non-spitting) alpaca. He liked his non-greasy head rubbed.
LA
Quit that. You're much cuter than that.
LA
Much cuter. Little bitty guy.
LA
Much larger great Pyrenees. 100 pounds and up. Not a warm
weather dog.
LA
Weimaraner -- one of the many rescue groups represented.
LA
Italian greyhound -- another one of the rescue groups (too many to list).
LA
Umbrella cockatoo -- guest of the parrot rescue group.
LA
Blue and gold macaw -- guest of the same rescue group.
LA
African grey -- ditto. Best talker.
LA
After sterilizing their hands, small visitors were allowed to pet the birds.
LA
Rainbow lorikeet -- ditto. New one to me.
LA
Black lorikeet -- ditto. Another new one to me.
LA
Green checked conure.
LA
Very tame little dude.
LA
Here's a very useful vendor that attended the show.
LA
And as we exited the Expo, we encountered this little guy. LA
