For some reason, we like large iguanas. Sure, they're
messy. Sure some like to whip at you with their surprisingly fast
tails. And some will slash your wrists if you don't keep their
toenails trimmed. Still, iguanas have that same charisma the
dinosaurs used to have. LA

Proud and regal, most iguanas prefer to ignore you.

Iguanas eat vast quantities of yard waste.

Dandelions are a special treat -- leaves, flowers, and roots.

Males like it when you rub that large circle, but they're too proud to ask.

Females seem a bit more demure except at feeding time.

Iguanas rarely bite. Usually it's by accident. But you need to
beware.

Actually, iguanas really love grated carrots.

Grated carrots go down smoother than carrot sticks.

And ripe muskmelons.

In fact, iguanas even eat the rinds.

Big guys will munch on a cucumber held in your hand.

Much easier to consume when you slice your cucumber.

If it's green, iguanas like it.

Especially if it's dark green.

Or yellow, or orange, or red.

Yellow squash proves a challenge, if he stands on it.

But not an insurmountable challenge.

Green beans go down smooth.

Iguanas are always ready for a trip thru the salad bar.

He likes pasta salad with vinegar and oil.

And iguanas rarely refuse fresh fruit.

Watermelon disappears fast.

If you don't peel their banana, they will eat the peels.

Pop the top and grab those greens.

You don't even have to unwrap his food.

But if you do unwrap it, he'll make less of a mess.

Sliced cucumbers get swallowed without chewing.

And don't throw away your tough collard green stems. Check those
teeth on the bottom.

Of course, they can't eat it all at once. Commercial foods are
easier but less fun.
