Reiman Gardens on the
Iowa State University campus germinated in 1993 when Roy and Bobbi Reiman
donated the funds to move the ISU horticultural gardens to their current
site. Some 14 acres comprise the entire package -- 11 individual
gardens and six water gardens. These photos will give you an idea of
their water gardens. We visited on a cool, rainy October day.
Schedule your visit for the spring or summer. You will pay a nominal
fee.

No fish in this small pond inside one of their year-round gardens.

You'll find this small pond inside their butterfly
garden.
LA
Not a pond but interesting.
LA
Nice looking surroundings.
LA
You have to really hunt to find this hidden pond. Nice rainy day to
look for ponds.
LA
Reiman Garden offer a wide variety of pond types.

To your right as you walk over a covered bridge replica. They light
it at night.

To your left, you see the rest of this pond. No lily blooms on
overcast days.
LA
Here's their biggie. You can tell it's October. You just can't
feel the wet grass.
LA
Those Egyptian lily pads supposedly will hold up a small child.
Don't count on it.
LA
Water falls with splash chambers are always a good addition.
LA
They must buy their rocks wholesale. Rockwork is hard work.
LA
Those darn umbrella ponds always jump in front of your camera.
LA
Not percolating at present, this very formal pond takes us way back.
Nothing like a quick
pictorial review to pique your interest. You find plenty of eye candy
at the Reiman Gardens plus some ideas worth stealing
borrowing for your own pond. Schedule a minimum two hours for a good
look see. Two hours were plenty in the rain. LA
