Here’s some nice pics of my fish. Many of which
include my 12-inch Siamese tiger datnioid as well as some
brackish.
A: Since you asked earlier if I’d like to
run them on my site, here’s the deal. I’ll set up a
page for your pix (which are mostly pretty good) if I can add
my comments to them. Let me know. LA

Yes, please add your comments. What makes your
website so great is your insight, experience as well as humor
through your commentary. I have some more pics too, but I
don’t know if you have the time to process all these pics.
Thanks.

Nice fish. Fairly good cropping job -- except at top. Nice
background. Flash washed out the pattern on the scat. Keep shooting
until he gets that dorsal fin erect. B.

Better fish picture. Cropping amputated his tail. Background
distracting but not bad. Shows the pattern and lateral line very
well. Get that dorsal fin up. B.

Pangassus are hard to
photograph. Background distracting and make tail hard to see.
Very good picture of 80% of the fish -- including the whiskers. B.

Just a quick crop job.

Pangassius WILL NOT stop moving unless they catch ich. Good fish
which the photo shows well. Too many distractions in the
background. How did you get three flash reflections? C.

Choice fish. Posterior not shown. Flash reflection and the
water spots are too distracting. You've got some much better
examples in your portfolio. Ditch this one. D.

Good erect fins. Posterior missing. Is that a reflection of
the photographer on the front glass? The three tank mates are
distracting. C.

Just a quick crop.

No need for all that stuff in the background. Crop it. Tail
still hard to see. Dorsal not erect. Does he have a frontosa
beard. B-.

Best of the lot. Shows fish
the best. B+ due to the two distractors in the back. I love
all datnioides. Wait a minute. There's only about four fish
that I don't like. Maybe five.

Choice fish. A+ on the
fish. Just a B on the photo. Get that dorsal up. Get the
distractions out of the back. D+ on the distractions.

Just a quick crop. This is one
good looking scat.

Nice mono. Dorsal could be more uppity. Anal is trucated.
No need to mention the reflection on the front glass is there?
D.

Another quick crop.

Ditch this photo. A seven-inch
red empress should look better than this. D-.

Good detail. Still a young
looking red shoulder. Herr Baensch would like to see more red in the
shoulder, more blue in the body, and more white atop the dorsal. C.

Another quick crop. Yours are really good photos or I couldn't
amputate them this easily. If this is a female, all bets are off on
the color comments.

I haven't seen enough Placidochromis
to judge them, but this is an impressive fish. You could crop the
photo to make it pop out more. I can't see a lot of detail on this
guy, but I like him. B.

I'd like him better if his dorsal were more erect.

"Feed me, Seymour." This Calvus needs some live California
blackworms to get his belly pooched out a bit. At four inches, he
could be over the hill. Crop, crop, crop. D-.

Every cichlid nut loves these
guys. Crop him. Too many distractions in back. B-.

Quick crop. He does look a
little hungry. Still a good looking fish.

I like this guy even better.
Good belly and dorsal on him. I'd like to see longer pecs. Way
too many distractions in back. C on photo. A- on the fish.

Still a lot of junk in
background. Much better Frontosa than the first one.

On a six-inch archer, I want to see
FINS. He seems withdrawn. Crop. Crud on glass makes his
eye look cloudy. C.

Even cropped, he's
anti-climactic. You just get a C on the fish.
Last
Words: Michael told me he’s a graphic designer. He didn’t
say so, but I know he’s used to being edited by people much higher up on
the food chain than me. Anyway, this was a fun experiment and gave
me a chance to look at some choice fish. Thanks, Michael LA
